Background

In today’s fast pace living, many Millenniums have trouble to fall asleep at night. People have a poor sleeping schedule, which leads to insomnia and other unhealthy conditions. The consequence of sleep deprivation is also the main cause for the daytime fatigue.

Causes of insufficient sleep

  • Inadequate sleep hygiene

  • Alcohol, energy drinks

  • Use of technology prior to bed

“Generation Y’ers” (adults aged 19–29 years old) are heavy users of technology prior to bed:

  • 67% use cell phones,

  • 43% music devices,

  • 60% computers,

  • 18% video games.

The majority (51%) report rarely getting a good night’s sleep and often wake unrefreshed.

How might we design an app to help young sleep-deprived professionals and students to improve their sleep habits and quality by persuading them to keep tracking the sleeping time and reduce the usage of phones during the night time?

Quiz%204_edited.jpg

Before starting using the LateSleeper to track your sleeping habits, it is necessary to identify existing problems.

Users need to go through the registration process to help them identify the causes of deprivation and potential improvements by categorizing them into specific groups.

Each group would have their unique content that would help to motivate the users to keep the good sleeping habits.
